HARBOUR DEVELOPMENT, BALATONAKARATTYA

The Client requested a concept plan for the development of the yacht harbour, which is located in the premises of the existing closed holiday resorts. Within that framework, we examined the chances of expanding the harbour bay and of erecting a building that could serve the marina, with respect to its location and form in the beautiful natural environment. The house thus planned ia open in its own full width and height to the water, with public spaces behind the transparent glass wall, and serving rooms like the kitchen and the harbour’s boat repair workshop in the rear section. The building is connected to the life in the harbour by a covered open arcade. This is a transitional space protecting internal rooms from the sun setting in the west, while also clearly dividing the inside from the outside, although they would be visually joined. Dainty, fine concrete columns of artificial stone quality hold the concrete roof covering the terrace in front of the house. The building is closed around, its front covered with limestone. The strong geometry of the mass compositions suggests organisation and clear internal design, while radiating calm, in counterpoint to the lively life of the harbour. The simple form of the outside is long-lasting both technically and morally. Its use of material is consistent, since the stone covering connects the house with the nature around it, while its design is in tension with the organic greenery. The sharp forms offer a geometric vision of human presence and conscious organisation. The building is nothing more, just a precisely articulated, high-quality framework that serves yachting life on the shore of the lake.
